Launch of the first infodays
Since 28 of January 2014 many infodays have been organized to disseminate information aobut scope, workplan and chellenges of the Tartalife project. The infodays represented also the opportunity to spread out information on low impact fishing techniques and to involve fisherman and people interested in the project.
The first workshop of the Tartalife project took place in Civitavecchia (Lazio) the 28 of January 2014. Main scope of the meeting was to involve fishermen in order to disseminate information about Tartalife project. Further workshops have been organized in San Benedetto del Tronto (Marche) and Manfredonia (Puglia). During the workshop, fishing techniques and devices for the reduction of sea turtle unwanted catch have been showed and discussed. In order to collect information, suggestion and with the aim of acquire fishermen perspective, a devoted questionnaire have circulated during the workshop. Information and feedbacks gathered will be useful to improve actions and to optimize the project workplan. The fishermen participation overcome the expectation. Many fishermen attended the meeting demonstrating great interest in the issues related to the sea turtle conservation. Many of them agreed also to the next actions, mainly devoted to test during sea trials the techniques and the devices showed during the workshop.
