Sea turtle cove in Numana
Next saturday 25 of June at 10.30 in collaboration with Fondazione Cetacea, CNR and Numana Municipality
Saturday 25 in Numana the "Turtle Cove" will be launched. This area close to the "Spiaggiola di Numana" is a protected area where the turtles treated at the Cetacea Foundation hospital in Riccione can regain confidence with the sea, before being released definitively. The turtles released in the cove are exemplary captured and incidentally wounded in professional fishing.
The Cove, a real convalescent area for turtles, is a confined area where tourists can enjoy the wonderful swimming of these animals in a semi-free environment. The cove, promoted by the Marche regional network for sea turtle conservation and Cetacea Foundation, is strongly supported by the Numana Municipality (local administration) and represents a unique case in the Italian. Within the TartaLife project, funded by the European Commission through the bottom LIFE + NATURE 2012 and coordinated by the CNR-ISMAR of Ancona, a fruitful collaboration was activated which has rendered and will again this year to conduct research to learn more about these magnificent animals and to develop methodologies to help protect the species.
For all those who will attend the inauguration of the bay and the release of the first specimens of sea turtle the event is scheduled for Saturday, 25 of June
