TED: The American experience meets TartaLife
CNR-ISMAR held a meeting with Joseph A. Fette of the US Department of Marine Conservation Office on 10-11 October in Ancona for an exchange of experiences on the use of TEDs.
The meeting held at the CNR-ISMAR of Ancona was the occasion for an exchange of knowledge and experience with representatives of the US Department of State Conservation Office (JA Fette) and NOAA ( J. Forrester). In about 15 countries, the use of TED (especially in shrimp trawl) has become mandatory. In the US, the experience of fishermen with such mitigation devices has now reached good performance levels due to various tricks matured over the years. American experience has been well received by CNR's staff, which will improve some technical aspects (TED size, flapper, TED angle) to ensure even greater success than what has already been achieved.
